The other night I was watching the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs game. During the game I noticed this guy named Jonathan Simmons for the Spurs putting in work against the Warriors. I knew he was in the D-League in previous years before and thought “wow this guy was in the D-League last year and now he just dropped 20 points on the Warriors.” After the game I looked him up because I wanted to see what school he went to and when he got drafted. He played for 2 junior college teams before playing for the University of Houston. In 2012 after his junior year he decided to declare for the draft and unfortunately went undrafted. He then went on to play in the ABL for a year and after that he decided to try out for the San Antonio Spurs D-league team, the Austin Spurs. The try out fee was $150. He made the team and was making $20,000 a year. Fast forward 2 years later and he earned a spot on the Spurs summer league team where he preformed pretty well. Now fast forward 3 months to where we are now and he is earning 1.4 million dollars a year and just dropped 20 points on one of the best teams in the league. Money well spent.
