Good Morning my fellow Canadians.

I want to say first and foremost, that I am sorry. Trump has been elected the next President of the United States. I am likely not the way that you found out about the news. I am likely not the first article that you’ve read on the issue so far. I am a cog in the media machine however, and I must tell you this.

Donald Trump, the most outlandish and far fetched presidential candidate ever, has been elected the 45th President of the United States. A world super power. A supposed bastion of democracy and acceptance, elected that man as the political figurehead of the country.

It’s easy to get caught up in the anxiety of the presidential election. It’s been a long, winding road with many twists and turns. I remember when Barack Obama won the election for his first term. It was a great occasion. This is much different. This was a highlighting of how the system works in the worst possible context. Let me say, if my words denounce Trump, they don’t promote Clinton. There was no right answer for America this election. And that’s the real tragedy.

So Canadians, keep your chin up. We’ll survive as we always have. We’ve chosen Trudeau to represent our nation. We will stand the True North proud and free from our southerly neighbours.
