Google has released their newest digital distraction for in between checking your Facebook posts. Google Earth Engine has developed a Timelapse mode┬áthat is loads of fun. If you’ve used Google Maps, you’re familiar with the interface already. This isn’t your regular map however. The trick, is that this earth is layered with 5 million images compiled since 1984. Every location can be flipped from 1984 to 2016 and back again. You can watch suburbs and cities explode in size over 30 years, and magically make them recede back into nothingness. There’s a number of suggested locations along the bottom of the map, including Miami, Brisbane, and Alberta. You aren’t limited to these however. I naturally wanted to see how Ottawa has grown in the last three decades. It’s a real treat folks. Go out and explore!
